Celebrating the Taste of Connemara
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from Ballinakill Bay, our “Pearl of Connemara” oysters have been awarded Gold at the 2025 Blas na hÉireann Awards, Ireland’s most prestigious celebration of Irish food and drink.
This recognition is a true honour for our small team here in Connemara. Blas na hÉireann represents the very best of Irish produce, judged blind on quality and taste. To take home a Gold award among such incredible producers from across the country means so much to us, and is a reflection of the care, passion, and connection to place that goes into every oyster we grow.
Our oysters are shaped by the unique merroir of Ballinakill Bay, where the wild Atlantic waters meet the mountain-fed streams of Connemara. This pure environment creates the clean, mineral-rich flavour profile that makes our oysters so distinctive, a true taste of the west coast of Ireland.
This Gold Award follows our success earlier this year at the Great Taste Awards, where our Ladies’ Choice oysters received the top 3-Star accolade and Pearl of Connemara was awarded 2-Stars. Together, these honours highlight the consistent quality and craftsmanship at the heart of DK Connemara Oysters.
