Our Story
Irish oysters have been farmed in Ballinakill Bay since 1893, and DK Connemara Oysters holds one of the oldest Irish oyster farm licences.
David Keane and his team took over the farm in 2014 and have incorporated this long history and heritage into today’s working farm, producing oysters of the highest quality.
It takes three years to bring the oysters from seed to plate, and this is done with tireless dedication by all the team working together to cultivate the finest product for our customers.
DK Connemara Oysters are members of Origin Green, the sustainability program for the food and drink industry in Ireland, organised by the Irish Government through Bord Bia. We offer restaurant-ready oysters on a B2B basis in Ireland, Europe and South East Asia.
We are proud to be one of the 22 producers of Taste The Atlantic, a tasting trail along the Wild Atlantic Way organised by Fáilte Ireland and BIM, the Irish Fisheries Board.
We offer private tours and a seafood platter and oyster experience to individuals and also cater for larger groups. If you would like to experience the journey from seed to plate, on one of the oldest farms in the country, please contact us.
Visit us in our breath-taking location if you are touring the Wild Atlantic Way or visiting Connemara and see our producers in action. They might be halfway out to sea but you will see them shaking the baskets, tending the oysters and harvesting them with our vintage tractors into the sea!
Order a box of oysters from us anytime – we guarantee you’ll be back for more.
