Taking a farm tour with us allows you to see where and how we work, and how our beautiful oysters are produced.
We offer tours daily to free independent travellers, groups, families, friends: whatever size your group we will welcome you but please note pre-booking is required. On the tour, which is a brilliant thing to do to amuse the kids (6+) even on a bad weather day, you will tour our farm, and learn about the farming process from seed to plate, you will get to see the team working on the farm whether it be grading, packing, or turning bags in the bay.
Once we have taken you through the whole process, we demonstrate how to shuck an oyster and if you’re feeling adventurous you can shuck your own oyster! The first oyster is an explosion of taste, as your pallet adjusts with the second and third, you will taste the true flavour, which has been described as sweet, having creamy notes with a touch of earthiness.
This is a multi-sensory, authentic experience delivered in a magnificent setting at the foot of the Connemara National Park and 15 minutes’ drive from Kylemore Abbey.
Private Tours
For that special occasion why not book a private tour and enjoy that extra special treatment. The farm is closed to the public and your guests will have the undivided attention of our team. We can offer a bottle of wine, prosecco or Champagne to add to the moment and of course there will be oysters for you to savour and enjoy. The tour is delivered at your pace and can be as interactive as you wish. Shuck your own oyster, learn how to grade an oyster, or simply enjoy the scenery.
