DK Connemara Oysters is a family-run oyster farm based on the tranquil shores of Ballinakill Bay. We grow premium Irish oysters using sustainable methods and welcome visitors from around the world to experience our Seed to Plate story.
As we continue to grow, we are currently recruiting for the following roles:

Team Assistant
This is a varied, people-facing role combining farm support, administration, packing, and visitor engagement. It’s ideal for someone organised, proactive and comfortable switching between office, farm and visitor-facing tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the upkeep of farm and harvest records
- Support the administration of sales, purchases and shipping systems
- Assist on packing days to ensure prompt and efficient dispatch of oysters
- Greet visitors to the farm and assist with delivering our From Seed to Plate tour experience
- Provide general support to the farm team as required
Skills & Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team
- Comfortable maintaining records using manual and computer-based systems
- Proactive and responsible, with a willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks
- Excellent communication skills, particularly with visitors and team members
- Driving licence an advantage, but not essential

General Operative – Oyster Farm
This is a hands-on, physical role working directly with stock on the oyster farm, both on the water and on shore. It suits someone who enjoys outdoor work, practical tasks and being part of a small, dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the care and processing of stock on the oyster farm, including water-based and onshore activities
- Tide-based work, including:
- Turning and shaking bags
- Moving stock on and off trestles/lines
- Loading and unloading trailers
- Onshore work, including:
- Grading oysters for sale
- Dividing, grading and splitting growing stock
- Washing and packing oysters
- Maintenance and cleaning of equipment and machinery
- General yard and parking duties as required
- Completion of maintenance and cleaning logs
Skills & Requirements
- Ability to perform all duties to a high standard
- Strong ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Physically fit and willing to carry out manual work in all weather conditions
- Proactive, reliable and willing to take responsibility for assigned tasks
- Excellent communication skills and a positive team-focused attitude
- Driving licence an advantage
